Originally constructed for the Citadel Shirt Corporation in 1950, this single-story brick building at 1215 Shop Road was expanded to house several different garment manufacturers throughout the late 20th century. It served as a warehouse for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Carolina Area Support Center (CASC) from 1968 to 1972. Columbians are likely to recognize the building as the last home of Morris Furniture.

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021 and the development team leveraged state and local historic tax credits to undertake a comprehensive rehabilitation. Adaptive reuse preserved the building’s historic barrel-vaulted ceilings, trusses, and original steel windows. In use once more as a modern office and warehouse, 1215 Shop Road’s past is ever present in its preserved historic features.

Progress is underway at Coastal Carolina University’s Indoor Practice Facility. While the building is mostly monochrome for now, soon it will feature Coastal’s signature teal and Chanticleer spirit.

Clemson University’s Women’s Sports Program Expansion is a landmark project reflecting the university’s unwavering commitment to advancing women’s athletics. This comprehensive complex includes a 24,000-sf gymnastics operations facility, a 9,000-sf lacrosse operations facility, a 1,000-seat lacrosse stadium, and a groundbreaking 10,000-sf elite Athlete Recovery Center (ARC). These facilities were created to support the holistic development of female athletes and promote excellence in sports. The architectural design for the project captures Clemson’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge experiences for female athletes.
